Our Founder and Fearless Leader.
Lisa heard about this FBICAA Project which encouraged individuals to fill a backpack with a change of clothes and hygiene items. These bags are given to FBI Agents to keep on hand for when an individual is recovered during a trafficking operation. The bags are intended to provide 48 hours of relief while these survivors are connected with additional resources. Seeing this as tangible way to make a difference, Lisa took it upon herself to make bags out of her own home. In 2021 Lisa and her family made 91 Bags of Hope with some assistance from close community members. The responses she got from friends and family was always "let us know how to help you make more". So at the end of 2021, she started a private Facebook group to share her bag making adventures and post the list of items she needed to make bags. That group now has >400 members and as of the end of 2024, has made over 4000 Bags.
The lady with a killer spreadsheet.
Jenny's first encounter with Seeds of Hope MN was when she heard about this kind lady (Lisa Sulack) in her neighborhood who was looking for hygiene items to use for the care bags she was making to help survivors of trafficking. Jenny had a surplus of toiletry bags and gladly handed them over to the cause. From there, her involvement grew to making bags, transporting bags, and planning packing events. She is currently the "project manager" for packing events, tracking the donations received, putting out the call for specific items and pooling group funds to reach the quotas required for each event. At events, you can often find Jenny running around keeping the flow going, while wearing her young daughter in a baby carrier.
"Just tell me what you need"
Sara was looking for ways to get more involved in the community. She'd tried volunteering at other organizations but not found the right fit. She heard about this great group of "do-gooders" making care bags and decided to join the online group. At first, Sara's involvement started as donating items that the group needed. But when Lisa and Jenny started putting out the call for people's time/effort, Sara answered it full force. She volunteered at events, organized and kitted up clothing in her own home, and always answered the call for help with great energy. With Seeds of Hope, Sara really hit her stride. She has embraced the cause full force and as a board member she compliments Lisa and Jenny's chaos with just the right level of energy and enthusiasm.
