Our current main service project is the making of "Bags of Hope". A Bag of Hope s a care package designed to provide relief and restore dignity to survivors of trafficking. Each bag is packed with a change of clothes, hygiene and comfort items. The clothes are athleisure style to suit the most body types and each bag is marked externally to denote the size (XS, small, medium, large, XL, XXL, etc). The bags also contain hygiene items, including feminine products, with the goal of providing support for at least 48hours. The comfort items are both practical (blanket and water bottle) and aimed at providing mental health relief (journal, coloring book, etc). The list for Bags of Hope started as an FBI Citizen's Alumni Academy Project, where the bags were provided to agents so they would have something on hand to provide to survivors after recovery. The agents would often have to sequester individuals recovered from anti-trafficking operations in order to take their statements, ensure their safety and while waiting to connect them to longer term resources. This effort was started in order to provide the agents something to help them treat these individuals with dignity and respect, rather than feel like prisoners while in the hands of law enforcement. Currently, this organization distributes Bags of Hope throughout the Minneapolis FBI Field Office locations in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. We also distribute Bags of Hope through partner organizations that align to this cause within this territory.
If you'd like contribute items towards these bags, you can do so via our Amazon Registry.
